Typical Properties (Representative Values for a General Purpose Unfilled Grade):
Please note that specific values may vary slightly depending on the exact production batch, testing conditions, and any specific modifications. Always refer to the official Technical Data Sheet (TDS) from CHIMEI Corporation for the most accurate and up-to-date information for the specific grade you require.
- Melt Flow Rate (MFR) (230°C / 2.16 kg): 20 – 40 g/10 min (ISO 1133)
- Density: ~1.13 – 1.14 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)
- Tensile Strength @ Yield: 50 – 70 MPa (ISO 527-2)
- Flexural Modulus: 1800 – 2600 MPa (ISO 178)
- Notched Izod Impact Strength (23°C): 4.0 – 8.0 kJ/m² (ISO 180)
- Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) (1.8 MPa, unannealed): 55 – 65 °C (dry as moulded) (ISO 75-2/A)
- Water Absorption (Saturation, 23°C): ~8.0 – 10.0 % (ISO 62)
Processing Guidelines (Injection Molding – General):
- Drying: Essential for Nylon 6 to prevent hydrolysis and ensure optimal mechanical properties and surface finish. Recommended conditions: 80 °C for 4 – 6 hours in a desiccant dryer, to a moisture content of <0.1%.
- Melt Temperature: 230 – 270 °C (optimize based on machine type, mold design, and part thickness).
- Mold Temperature: 40 – 80 °C (higher mold temperatures generally improve surface finish and reduce internal stress).
- Injection Pressure: 80 – 120 MPa (adjust for part geometry and fill).
- Holding Pressure: 50 – 80% of injection pressure.
Packaging & Storage:
CHIMEI PA-709 resins are supplied in standard, moisture-proof packaging (e.g., 25 kg bags, supersacks). For optimal product integrity and to prevent moisture absorption, store in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep packaging sealed until immediately prior to use.
