Typical Properties (Representative Values):

Please note that specific values may vary slightly depending on the exact production batch and testing conditions. Always refer to the official Technical Data Sheet (TDS) from ExxonMobil Chemical for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

  • Melt Index (MI) (190°C / 2.16 kg): ~16 – 20 g/10 min (ASTM D1238)
  • Density: ~0.954 – 0.958 g/cm³ (ASTM D1505)
  • Tensile Strength @ Yield: ~24 – 28 MPa (ASTM D638)
  • Flexural Modulus: ~1000 – 1200 MPa (ASTM D790)
  • Notched Izod Impact Strength (23°C): ~60 – 100 J/m (ASTM D256)
  • Vicat Softening Point (A): ~124 – 127 °C (ASTM D1525)
  • Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) (F50, 10% IGEPAL, 50°C): >24 hours (ASTM D1693, Condition B)

Processing Guidelines (Injection Molding – General):

  • Drying: Generally not required for HDPE, but proper storage to prevent moisture pick-up is recommended. If moisture is suspected, pre-drying at 80°C for 2-3 hours can be beneficial.
  • Melt Temperature: 190 – 230 °C (optimize based on machine type, mold design, and part thickness).
  • Mold Temperature: 20 – 50 °C (higher mold temperatures can improve surface finish and reduce internal stress).
  • Injection Speed: Medium to high, to ensure good mold filling and reduce cycle times.
  • Holding Pressure: Optimized to prevent sink marks and ensure dimensional accuracy.

Packaging & Storage:

EXXONMOBIL™ HMA 016 is typically supplied in 25 kg bags or bulk containers. For optimal product quality and to prevent contamination, store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep packaging sealed until ready for use.
